Summary

"A little sweet, a little sharp。" --Booklist, starred review

High school nemeses fall in love in Kelly Quindlen's She Drives Me Crazy, a queer YA rom com perfect for fans of Becky Albertalli and Casey McQuiston。

After an embarrassing loss to her ex-girlfriend in their first basketball game of the season, seventeen-year-old Scottie Zajac gets into a fender bender with the worst possible person: her nemesis, Irene Abraham, head cheerleader for the Fighting Reindeer。

Irene is as mean as she is beautiful, so Scottie makes a point to keep her distance。 When the accident sends Irene's car to the shop for weeks' worth of repairs and the girls are forced to carpool, their rocky start only gets bumpier。

But when an opportunity arises for Scottie to get back at her toxic ex--and climb her school's social ladder--she bribes Irene into an elaborate fake- dating scheme that threatens to reveal some very real feelings。

From author Kelly Quindlen comes a new laugh-out-loud romp through the ups and downs of teen romance, perfect for fans of Adam Silvera。

Well, YA contemporary really is not my jam。 This was about a 2* for me。 However, as I am clearly not the intended audience, I wont enter in a star rating。 I just had barely any interest in this as a romance, as a story。

3。5 stars。THIS WAS SO GOOD??? sapphic enemies to lovers + fake dating fucking slaps。my cheeks hurt from smiling and my heart feels so full。i do think scottie was annoying at the start but eventually, she grew on me and irene oh my god, she could run me over with her car and i would thank her and apologize for the inconvenience。 i adore how this book explores topics like breakups and self worth w nuance and love。also, the ending was incredibly cheesy and yes, i fuck with that。reading all books w 3。5 stars。THIS WAS SO GOOD??? sapphic enemies to lovers + fake dating fucking slaps。my cheeks hurt from smiling and my heart feels so full。i do think scottie was annoying at the start but eventually, she grew on me and irene oh my god, she could run me over with her car and i would thank her and apologize for the inconvenience。 i adore how this book explores topics like breakups and self worth w nuance and love。also, the ending was incredibly cheesy and yes, i fuck with that。reading all books w lgbtq+ rep this pride month!book 1: time is a motherbook 2: she drives me crazy 。。。more

A slay。 My enjoyment level for this book was very high and it was just so light and fluffy I loved it。 I just wanted to keep reading it, and that's how you know it slays hard。 I love a good fake dating/enemies-to-lovers trope, and it was done so naturally in this one I thought it was just great。 One thing that really stuck out to me is that near the climax of the book, Scottie was given like time to heal and really understand herself before jumping into another relationship and I thought that wa A slay。 My enjoyment level for this book was very high and it was just so light and fluffy I loved it。 I just wanted to keep reading it, and that's how you know it slays hard。 I love a good fake dating/enemies-to-lovers trope, and it was done so naturally in this one I thought it was just great。 One thing that really stuck out to me is that near the climax of the book, Scottie was given like time to heal and really understand herself before jumping into another relationship and I thought that was nice because we don't really see that in books so。 Gold star。 I just really liked this book and I'd def recommend it :) 。。。more

Firstly I would do ANYTHING for Irene I love her so much。 This is the fastest I’ve ever gone through a book I think but I love it because it was such an easy and enjoyable read。 What made me incredibly happy was seeing the sapphic experience done so well and so honestly without making that the only important thing about our protagonists。 If you’re looking for a cheesy heartwarming high school coming-of-age piece, I would highly recommend it!💗💗

This was genuinely the a great read。 I cheered for these two from the very beginning。 I really don’t have much to say other than this was a genuinely comforting and relaxing read。

I loved and hated this。 Irene was everything I loved her so much she was the perfect cliche character, but for some reason Scottie just pissed me off almost the entire book。 The whole can't communicate trope is so frustrating and it made me hate the middle of the book。 But the plot was so cute and the ending was everything。 I wish for a side story for Danielle who is the love of my life, and Kevin was everything with Honey-Belle (the only couple I was sure was going to stay together throughout t I loved and hated this。 Irene was everything I loved her so much she was the perfect cliche character, but for some reason Scottie just pissed me off almost the entire book。 The whole can't communicate trope is so frustrating and it made me hate the middle of the book。 But the plot was so cute and the ending was everything。 I wish for a side story for Danielle who is the love of my life, and Kevin was everything with Honey-Belle (the only couple I was sure was going to stay together throughout the entire book)。 Overall though it wasn't bad and the ending was kinda cute。 。。。more

This was sort of lame, but in a cute way。 I haven’t read a book like this since high school, and don’t plan to make a habit of it, and there were parts that were so cheesy that I audibly said “Ew” as I was listening to it, but it held my attention and I don’t regret listening to it。 Just a heads up, the Audible reader sounds like she’s about 10, which was not the best。

It was cute and cheesy。 It was cliché in an adorable way, and it wasn’t trying to be anything other than that。 However, the whole emotional aspect of the book didn’t seem developed properly。 I also didn’t exactly feel the chemistry between Irene and Scottie since a lot of the bantering felt like genuine arguments and insults。However, it was an enjoyable read and I enjoyed Irene and Honey-Belle a lot。 I wish I could give it a 3。5/5, but here it stands at 3。

4/5mc was annoying and the writing was shallow but it’s honestly pretty cute and there is like no other lesbian highschool romance involving poc main characters so props for that。

Pros: The premise was cute! The story had great representation that felt realistic to the setting。 A lot of the dialogue modeled healthy communication between friends, partners, and family。 The book pushed back on some unhealthy stereotypes in a way that fit with the story。 All the side characters are very endearing。Cons: Unfortunately I found the main character to be insufferable for 98% of the book。 The writing style wasn't immersive- I felt like I was reading the description of a story instea Pros: The premise was cute! "You will move through life and fall in love with many different people, and at some point, you will get your heart broken。 It's unavoidable。 The key is to not be afraid of them breaking。 People break our hearts, but they create more room in them first, and that room makes it possible for us to become more ourselves。” ― Kelly Quindlen, She Drives Me CrazyThis sapphic novel mainly follows the two main tropes, "fake-dating" and "enemies to lovers。" The main character, Scottie, is still reeling fro "You will move through life and fall in love with many different people, and at some point, you will get your heart broken。 It's unavoidable。 The key is to not be afraid of them breaking。 People break our hearts, but they create more room in them first, and that room makes it possible for us to become more ourselves。” ― Kelly Quindlen, She Drives Me CrazyThis sapphic novel mainly follows the two main tropes, "fake-dating" and "enemies to lovers。" The main character, Scottie, is still reeling from her breakup, and when she finds herself unable to fully apply herself to her academic interest, she strikes a deal with "mean-girl," Irene。 They come up with a mutual deal that involves them pretending to be girlfriends, and as time passes by, they wonder if their fake emotions are starting to become real。 I cannot believe that I just finished this novel in one sitting。 It was short, sweet, and funny, and I found myself loving almost every page of it。 At first, I wasn't a huge fan of the relationship between Scottie and Irene, because they really did hint at a history of bullying and that already made me wary about how much I would enjoy their bond。 Also, I wasn't a huge fan of the miscommunication trope that took place, as well as how they both reacted sometimes。 However, it was a beautiful sapphic romance and I loved how raw their emotions felt when discussing important topics like emotional growth, and the internalized homophobia that was endured upon the discoveries of their sexualities。 I really did enjoy this love story, despite the minor critiques that I have about it。 Overall, this novel really was a short and easy read, and I did truly enjoy it。 I found myself smiling so much throughout it, and I was relatively pleased with how the romance was developed。 Scottie and Irene are always going to be in my heart because I really did enjoy this book。 。。。more

I was hesitant to try this because of sports and teenagers。 DNF-ed at 18% in because the only mean girl I like is Blair Waldorf。 I have a sneaky suspicion that Scottie is an unreliable narrator and I'm actually rooting for Irene more but I don't wanna stay and find out。 I was hesitant to try this because of sports and teenagers。 DNF-ed at 18% in because the only mean girl I like is Blair Waldorf。 I have a sneaky suspicion that Scottie is an unreliable narrator and I'm actually rooting for Irene more but I don't wanna stay and find out。 。。。more

"In the end, I walk away from my first car accident with a wounded ego, a dented bumper, and the looming dread of carpooling with the only person who could make my senior year worse than it already is"(32)。 This book is very stereotypical, but proudly so。 I think that this quote is a reflection of that。 I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a fun, funny story with a happy ending。 "In the end, I walk away from my first car accident with a wounded ego, a dented bumper, and the looming dread of carpooling with the only person who could make my senior year worse than it already is"(32)。 This book is very stereotypical, but proudly so。 I think that this quote is a reflection of that。 I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a fun, funny story with a happy ending。 。。。more

this is not only such a cute and fluffy read but it also did well in depicting a toxic/emotionally abusive relationship。 also i love irene so so much!!!!the only reason i didnt give this book five stars was bcs i find it bothering that the term 'lesbian' wasnt even mentioned once when clearly none of the main characters show any liking to men。 i find the dynamics of some of the characters, especially between scottie and her siblings, a bit unrealistic too。 this is not only such a cute and fluffy read but it also did well in depicting a toxic/emotionally abusive relationship。 also i love irene so so much!!!!the only reason i didnt give this book five stars was bcs i find it bothering that the term 'lesbian' wasnt even mentioned once when clearly none of the main characters show any liking to men。 i find the dynamics of some of the characters, especially between scottie and her siblings, a bit unrealistic too。 。。。more
